Description
Using Gameful Learning and Growth Mindset concepts my students and I practice creation rather than just consumption of technology.  Showcasing the Goose Chase App, in this workshop we will create, play, and debrief a scavenger hunt learning experience.  We will discuss exploring our ledges of learning, outside of our comfort zones, where the most growth can take place.  What obstacles do we face on our journey for meaningful learning experiences?

There are now thousands of TED Talks online with lots of lessons integrated into them. The robust TED education portal allows teachers to design lessons for using TED videos as well as other videos in classroom learning.  This portal is free and can be used in any K-16 classroom.

Minecraft, the popular game of virtual building blocks, can be used to great effect in the classroom. In this session, participants will be introduced to Minecraft in the social studies through a project where students build their own virtual civilizations that change and interact with each other over time. Participants will also receive information on the first steps necessary to set up Minecraft for use in a classroom setting. While the example used will revolve around the social studies, the interdisciplinary uses of Minecraft will also be explored through participant discussion. People with all levels of familiarity with Minecraft (from no experience to expert) are welcome and invited to participate.

Every teacher strives for 100% student engagement. But, it’s very hard to achieve. In this session we will examine some of the research around engagement while I demo Pear Deck’s features and go over how to use the tool. Participants will have ample time to try out the app and ask questions. By the end of the session you will be a Pear Deck expert and have a Pear Deck lesson you can use on Monday!
