Lead Presenter Call

Application closed January 20th, 2016
Thank you for considering to be a lead presenter for the 2016 University of Michigan 4T Virtual Conference. We are seeking motivated, imaginative, and forward-thinking educators to present at our 4T (Teachers Teaching Teachers about Technology) Virtual Conference in May 2016. These K-12 teachers and administrators use technology to enhance communication and learning in their classrooms and schools.

We use a professional development approach with conference presenters: we select a small group (6-8) of teachers and administrators to participate in a series of hands-on virtual workshops prior to the conference to develop their virtual teaching skills.  The 5 short virtual workshops, facilitated by faculty at the University of Michigan School of Education, School of Information, Washtenaw ISD, and Oakland Schools ISD, will expand educators' online presenting skills during March, April and May in preparation to present a webinar during the May 2015 virtual conference. Presenters will select ONE engaging lesson or activity they already teach that integrates technology and convert it to a virtual webinar lesson for participants to experience during the 4T Conference. These workshops will be live and virtual, thus you do not have to be local or native to Michigan in order to be a presenter in the conference.

Required Dates for Lead Presenter PD:
  • March 5th 10:00am - 12:00am EST
  • March 19th 10:00am - 1:00pm EST
  • April  16th 10:00am - 1:00pm EST
  • May 14th 10:00am - 11:30am EST
  • 7 hours on your own (logged practice session)
  • May Conference Presentation (your 60 minute presentation during May 21-23 conference)
Presenter compensation:
  • 15 CEUs (SCECH) (paid for by UM 4T)
  • Honorarium of $275.00
  • A participation certificate from University of Michigan School of Education.

For more information, email Liz Kolb at elikeren@umich.edu.

The application process closes on January 20, 2016. You will be notified around Feb. 10th, 2016.

What past presenters are saying about the workshop/presenter experience of the 4T

"I gained a familiarity with online learning that I did not possess.  I also gained the confidence to take a few pedagogical risks to create an interactive environment for my participants.  The workshop was excellent at helping me integrate my existing pedagogy into the webinar format."
-- 8 year veteran teacher, 2014 presenter

"I truly think everything we did in the workshops was meaningful, helpful, and productive in learning how to design an effective webinar.  I love working with a team member and in the small groups!"
-- 4 year veteran teacher, 2014 presenter

'"I thought everything about the workshops were great!  There are so many things that I gained as a result of the workshops that I attended.  First, I met some outstanding educators and gained some new ideas!  I was also able to receive some very in-depth training not normally available to me."
-- 23 year veteran teacher, 2014 presenter
