About the 4T Conference

The 4T Virtual Conference began as a grassroots effort in 2011 as an opportunity for educators from across the globe to connect, network, and learn from each other about issues in technology education.  Well over 900 K-16 educators from across the globe sign up each year to attend the conference!  The conference is hosted by the faculty at the University of Michigan School of Education and School of Information.  We are proud to partner with the Office of Student Affairs at the University of Michigan School of Education,  Oakland Schools ISD, the Washtenaw Intermedia School District, and Livingston LESA in Michigan.  Because of the wide success of the 4T, we have developed two satellite conferences.  The 4T Data Literacy Conference (4TDL) will be July 14-15 focuses on understanding and analyzing data in education.  The 4T Digital Writing Conference (4TDW) in October focuses on digital writing.

Special Thank you to Blackboard Collaborate, Pear Deck, Literacy and Beyond, Madonna University School of Education Masters Programs, Central Michigan University Doctorate in Education Technology (DET) Program, Michigan State University Masters of Arts in Education Technology (MAET) Program, and Michigan Association for Media Specialists (MAME) for supporting this conference.
The conference is FREE and OPEN to all educators.   The sessions target K-12 practicing and preservice teachers (view a session from last year).  The conference is held virtually—no plane tickets, no hotel fees!  Links to the virtual rooms are found on the conference schedule page.

The 4T conference is unique from other virtual conferences because all the lead presenters (all K-12 teachers) go through 15 hours of  professional development training on how to instructionally design an interactive and engaging virtual classroom (eg...webinar)!  We use a the Triple E Framework as our conceptual frame and measurement of quality of technology integration.  There are no other conferences that train their presenters like this!  As a result, you can expect ALL our sessions to be interactive, engaging and informative.

This year the conference sessions will begin on Saturday May 21st at 9:00am EST.  The opening keynote will begin on Sunday, May 22nd at 8:00 p.m. EST and the conference will continue through 10:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23rd.  See our schedule for further details of sessions.

All sessions will be live and archived. K-16 educator are encouraged to apply to present at this international conference.  A select group of K-12 educators will be selected to participate in our PD workshops on developing an online webinar (see details and application here).

The conference is run by instructors from the teacher education and library science programs at the University of Michigan School.  In addition, consultants from Washtenaw ISD and Oakland ISD.  While the conference is free and open, registration is required to attend sessions as well as receive the archived recordings.   In addition, interested educators can get continuing education credits (SCECHs) by attending the virtual conference.
